#CovidKindness

  • Thank you to Chinatown resident Ms. Yi Yi, who donated 5,000 masks for seniors and children in Toronto to help them stay safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. The donation was received by Shauna Harris, director of the Spadina-Fort York Community Care Program. See the Omni News clip here.
  • When she found out that people experiencing homelessness were developing frostbite during the cold days of February, Karen Langill organized a hand warmer drive that netted two 40-gallon drums of hand warmer donations. They were then distributed to people on the streets of Toronto. Thank you Karen, and thank you to everyone who contributed to this cause.
  • The Loaves & Fishes food program has found a new home in the Farmers’ Market tent at the St. Lawrence Market. Founded and organized by Lynn Kinney, the program distributes much-needed food items to vulnerable residents in the area every Saturday. Thank you Lynn for the wonderful work you do.

  • Seeds of Hope Foundation is looking for volunteers to help with their food delivery program and clothing drive. They have served over 2000 meals and survival kits to people trying to survive outside since the pandemic began. If you would like to be involved, email [email protected].

  • Food banks have seen a 200% increase in the rate of new clients accessing food banks in Toronto. Please consider making a donation to your local food bank.
