QUEEN’S PARK — Chris Glover, the NDP MPP for Spadina Fort-York, released the following statement in response to the Ford government’s call today for private partners to redevelop Ontario Place:
“Today’s announcement just confirms that Doug Ford is more interested in helping his developer buddies stuff their pockets than he is in listening to everyday families about what they want for this vital community asset. Ford’s disinterest in consulting the public and the city of Toronto on the future of Ontario Place continues to raise troubling questions about what schemes he might be cooking up in back rooms.
Ontario Place is not Ford’s private property. The site remains an important public space for Ontarians to celebrate the history and future of our province. It belongs to the people of Ontario, and Ford should listen to what they want for our precious waterfront.”
